The GSD has changed so much in such a short time. But I bet the written standard still reads essentially the same. . .Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08583346615214899727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-80275494965587930882008-06-03T17:07:00.000-05:002008-06-03T17:07:00.000-05:00alright.... I've NEVER thought the way they stack them or even how they're built, seems right...
I know squat about horses, but if a horses growth plates aren't closed until they're FIVE, why would someone risk injuring a promising prospect? Granted, they can make money now vs later, but ultimately, they could make MORE money, leaving the horse to mature as it should rather than literally running the poor animal into the ground.
Great post, and great discussion....Tracihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10722178137511288974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-82059886305774675942008-06-03T10:01:00.000-05:002008-06-03T10:01:00.000-05:00I'm wondering if his shoulders are really that str...I'm wondering if his shoulders are really that straight or if it's just the angle due to the way he must be stacked for the over-extreme rear.

I agree that his rear looks to have so much angulation that it is unsound.

I'm not sure how you convince people that "more" is not always "better". Though that seems to be happening with the truck & suv market.Kady Cannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10452518151723361811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-21792930691246585212008-06-03T09:18:00.000-05:002008-06-03T09:18:00.000-05:00Traci, the two things that really caught my eye in...Traci, the two things that really caught my eye in the to GSD pics were rear angulation (already leaning to extreme in the first pic, but crazy in the second) and the shoulders. In the second pic, the shoulders are soooo straight!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08583346615214899727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-33830261375509650252008-06-03T08:11:00.000-05:002008-06-03T08:11:00.000-05:00definitely something to think about...good postdefinitely something to think about...good postmanymuddypawshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16354727142892111081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-77754482953138349702008-06-02T20:00:00.000-05:002008-06-02T20:00:00.000-05:00Those poor hips! : (Those poor hips! : (Juleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05511336288459622767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-54839224986132499642008-06-02T19:56:00.000-05:002008-06-02T19:56:00.000-05:00My complaint with horse racing is riding them as y...My complaint with horse racing is riding them as yearlings. And don't tell me they don't. How else are they running barely at the age of two. Growth plates don't close till they are FIVE in equines. And we all know from personal experience that when we find an animal that LOVES to do something, they'll do it till they break down if given the chance. Sad thing about TB is they don't allow AI, only live covers so if a horse can't stand up, they literally don't have a leg to stand on...

But I'll be hoping for the best for that beautiful bay boy...Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05829955990820594126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3849328710041399056.post-88304044363045699472008-06-02T19:04:00.000-05:002008-06-02T19:04:00.000-05:00In your case in point, are you pointing out the si...In your case in point, are you pointing out the size difference?
